  • The typical timeline for transitioning from teaching to a new career varies. A job search within the same field can take anywhere from 2-6 months, however, a career transition can take even longer (Wass, 2023). While some transitions can happen more quickly, especially if no significant upskilling is needed, others may take longer if you're entering a competitive field or need to fill knowledge and skill gaps.

Responses are sent back through emails, document sharing, voice memos, etc. within 24-48 business hours. Group coaching sessions and forums are also available for BTC members via MS Teams.

  • Common careers for former teachers include Instructional Designer, Curriculum Developer, Assessment Specialist, Project Manager, Training Specialist, etc. However, there are no limitations to your options if you are willing to put in the work to reach your goals!

  • Depending on your target role, you might need a portfolio to showcase your work, especially for creative positions like Instructional Designer, Curriculum Developer, Graphic Designer, etc. Premium and Premium Plus memberships provide portfolio building support if you need it.

  • Once you have researched the required qualifications for your new career path, create a list of skills or knowledge areas where you feel underprepared. For instance, you might be unfamiliar with data analysis tools like Tableau or project management methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
